‘Digimon’ franchise producer speaks up about the future of the anime and its next generation

The fate of the DigiDestined is in good hands, as the producer of the ‘Digimon’ franchise has spoken up about what comes next for the anime giant.

2024 marks 25 years since the premiere of ‘Digimon Adventure’, a series that in now-distant 1999 marked an entire generation. The anime gave way to many sequels and spin-offs, especially when it comes to video games, but its main pillar will always be anime, and expectations regarding the next generation are high. With a production team that has quintupled its size, and the franchise producer, Hiromi Seki, speaking in an interview with Crunchyroll about what is to come.

Hiromi Seki spoke in the interview about the change they are already taking steps for what is to come, highlighting that “We have a new generation of producers coming in and we’ve passed the baton to them.” Furthermore, she did not hesitate to say “thank you so much for loving Digimon. But I think Digimon will continue to evolve from here. The new team lead by a new producer will think about what the next generation of Digimon should be, so I hope that you continue to root for and support Digimon.”

The future of ‘Digimon’ is in good hands

Seki spoke in the interview about the outstanding history of ‘Digimon’ that spans more than two decades, and although she is retiring it seems that the future of the series is in good hands. Beyond the series, its impact with the launch of different video games and the films that continue to emerge about ‘Digimon’ make this franchise one of the most profitable for Toei along with other works such as ‘One Piece’ and ‘Dragon Ball’.
