A price hike, but new features are coming.

Disney+ ad-free tier will see another price hike in October

When ‘Inside Out 2′ hits the streaming service later this year, you’re sure to get a new feeling, and it won’t be the pretty kind. Via The Hollywood Reporter, it’s been revealed that Disney will be raising subscription prices for its Disney+ streaming service starting October 17 this year. This will be the fourth price hike since the service launched in 2019, bringing the ad-free tier to a total of $15.99 per month, just over double what the service launched at.

The popular streaming service is not the only service that will see an increase for the company. Hulu will see an increase in its ad-free tier from $17.99 to $18.99, as will ESPN+, which will increase in price from $10.99 to $11.99. Unfortunately, the ad-supported version will also see a significant price increase, from $2 to $9.99 per month. This price change will also take place on October 17th.

As noted by THR, the price increase on these services seems to be encouraging consumers to sign up for The Disney bundle. This bundle includes the ad-supported version of Disney+ and Hulu for $10.99 per month.

Price hike, new feature and changes

The price hike will be accompanied by new features. Disney+ will add a “playlist” service, which will be always-on channels within the app that stream content such as news, old movies and TV shows. This will start with ABC News Live and one focused on preschool content. Later, new playlists focused on Marvel and Star Wars will be added.

Also this year, the company will begin a global crackdown on password sharing, allowing only users in the same household to access content from the same account.
