Disney announces release dates for Zootopia 2, Moana 2, The Mandalorian movie, and more

Release dates for many of Disney’s upcoming movies were revealed during an earnings call today, February 7, 2024, including specific dates for Zootopia 2 and Moana 2.

The news was revealed by CEO of Disney Bob Iger, who assured to the company’s investors the current release schedule for the production house’s many franchises. As it turns out, the company and its film studios are focusing on delivering sequels and growing pre-established franchises to improve the quality of their productions. As such, we now know that Zootopia 2 will release on November 26, 2025, while many more movies are planned for 2025 and 2026.

Most notably, the company also announced an unexpected release for this year: a sequel to Moana will come to theaters around the world on November 27, 2024. The film was apparently developed as a TV series, but they chose to transform it into a movie. “We were impressed by what we saw, and knew it deserved a theatrical release,” said Iger, highlighting that the original movie also has over 1 billion minutes of viewtime on Disney+ from 2023 alone.
