Disney Dreamlight Valley - everything you need to know: release date, free-to-play, editions

Gameloft has just unveiled a ton of news about Disney Dreamlight Valley, their cozy life simulator where you get to befriend your favorite Disney characters. Here’s everything we know.

Disney Dreamlight Valley - everything you need to know: release date, free-to-play, editions

Originally release in 2022 as an Early Access title, set to become a free-to-play at full feature launch, Disney Dreamlight Valley has been quite the success amongst its fans. Millions of players jumped into the valley to befriend Mickey Mouse and friends, with plenty of content in the form of collectibles, recipes, furniture and much more, and with a steady influx of content updates, the community solidified into something much larger than expected.

Now, developer Gameloft has announced that the game is officially leaving early access on December 5, 2023, but there’s more news than only that.

Full Release and the future of the game: will it still be free-to-play?

Here are some bad news for those players that were holding on to the complete launch of the title before jumping in: the developers and publishers of the game have abandoned their previous plans of opening up the title as a free-to-play experience. Now, the physical and digital editions of the game will also go up in price at launch, so the best way to get complete access is to get the Founders Pack currently being sold, which also allows you to start playing in early access right now.

Disney Dreamlight Valley will continue to be available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It will also continue being available as one of the games you can get through Xbox Game Pass.

“Thanks to your enthusiasm and participation over the past year, we have had the chance to build the game we aspired to, while implementing your feedback to make the Valley experience even more magical.” Said Gameloft on the game’s official blog. “As we transition to launch, existing players will keep their access to the game, their Moonstones, and their save game”.

“As we look ahead to the official launch, with the learnings we’ve gained from Early Access, we’ve made the decision to remain a paid game for the foreseeable future. This means we will not make the transition to be a free-to-play game when we leave Early Access on December 5th. This choice ensures that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be able to continue delivering on a premium game experience for all players. It’s important to us that we maintain our promise to keep delivering free content updates that add new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and more surprises to your Valley. "

Every Disney Dreamlight Valley Edition

The current Founder’s Pack will continue to be available until December 4, 2023. But when the game officially launches, three new editions will be made available for new players to get the game. There is also an expansion coming, “A Rift in Time”, which will have a cost of $29.99 and will require users to already own the base game.
