Don’t lie when entering your birthday in Death Stranding 2: the game uses your data and you’ll need it to progress
Hideo Kojima’s games are full of the kinds of details that have always made him a truly one-of-a-kind creator.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach isn’t an especially difficult game overall, even though some encounters with BTs can present a real challenge. Still, as is often the case with Kojima’s work, there are moments when it’s not immediately clear how to progress through the story.
One mission in particular has confused some players. At a certain point, you need to unlock a door that’s protected by a code.
The door leads to the Maternity facility in Australia. You have to go there as part of the main story, and if you’re paying attention, you likely won’t have any issues. But if you miss a key detail or aren’t fully focused, you might find yourself stuck, wondering what the code is.
If you wait a bit, Dollman will suggest checking the game’s summary section, which you can access through the menu. In the entry related to the Maternity facility, you’ll find the key hint: the code is your birthday.
Specifically, the one you entered at the beginning of the game when starting a new save. So, if your birthday is December 5th, you would’ve entered 12/05 — meaning the door code is 1205. That number actually shows up in the summary itself, but if you ignore Dollman’s hint or forget to check that section, it might not even occur to you to look there, since the game doesn’t make it super obvious.
