'Dragon Ball Daima': Why Goku's fight in Episode 8 is so visually stunning

Goku Mini’s showdown with the Power Pole against the Demon Realm’s Tamigami #3 is one of the most breathtaking scenes in the entire saga.

Thanks to the confrontation between Goku and Tamigami #3 of the eighth episode of ‘Dragon Ball Daima,’ fans have been able to enjoy one of the best fights - visually speaking - of the entire ‘Dragon Ball’ saga. And it is that the series and the most dynamic animation have taken over all the protagonism of a long-awaited fight that has been long overdue in the new anime starring Goku and company; but the wait has been worth it. And all thanks to the main animator in charge of this scene, a legend of ‘Dragon Ball’ in anime format: Naotoshi Shida.

Naotoshi Shida and his vivid vision of battle

To obtain the first of the Demon Realm’s Dragon Balls, Number Three, Goku must first defeat its guardian, the so-called Tamigami #3, a very powerful being armed with a giant hammer that guards its own three-star Dragon Ball. And this is where the party begins, as much of the episode’s protagonism comes from the battle between Goku and Tamigami.

Toei has relied on the good work of one of the favorite animators of ‘Dragon Ball’ fans, who leaves his mark in every frame of such a colorful and spectacular scene. To begin with, Goku uses his Power Pole in a way we have rarely seen before, resulting in authentic choreography typical of the best kung fu films.

But the best part comes when Goku transforms into Super Saiyan and the Kamehameha energy cannons collide; an authentic visual spectacle. Naotoshi Shida has demonstrated his mastery of animation applied to combat on many occasions, such as the fight between Goku and Goku Black in the anime ‘Dragon Ball Super’ or the movie ‘Dragon Ball Super: Broly’, the latter being a fan favorite visually.
