Anime

‘Dragon Ball Daima’ will be broadcast one hour later in Japan for this reason

More than a simple scheduling reason, the decision to broadcast the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima later in Japan hints at something important.

There are barely two weeks left until the moment most anticipated by millions of ‘Dragon Ball’ fans, as ‘Dragon Ball Daima’ premieres on October 11, the new anime of the Akira Toriyama saga. Specifically, it will be at 11:40 p.m. (GMT+9). That is the time it will be in Japan, something that might seem like an unimportant detail, but it is not.

The fact that it is broadcast at night in Japan gives rise to thinking that ‘Dragon Ball Daima’ will be more violent than usual. ‘Dragon Ball’ has changed a lot over the years, since the anime format always tends to reduce the levels of violence in the manga, softening some of the most intense moments. It is not something that can be taken for granted, but the choice of timeslot may suggest an uncensored and more explicit anime than usual.

At the end of last year, the insider specialized in the ‘Dragon Ball’ universe Greekdom101 already warned of the possibility that the series would have a level of violence similar to that of ‘Dragon Ball Z’ in its beginnings.

When does ‘Dragon Ball Daima’ premiere?

The release date of ‘Dragon Ball Daima’ has been set for October 11, 2024. It will have a total of 20 episodes that will be broadcast weekly.

Where to watch ‘Dragon Ball Daima’

Crunchyroll has secured the rights to release Dragon Ball Daima in most territories outside of Japan, including here in the United States. New episodes will be released weekly.
