Dragon Ball presents Frieza’s most powerful form 36 years later: Ultra Supervillain
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 offers a first look at Frieza’s new official transformation, specially designed for Bandai Namco’s video game.
After 36 years, the Dragon Ball franchise has finally unveiled the most powerful transformation of Frieza, the famous villain from the Namek arc during the events of Dragon Ball Z, who would later return at different points in ‘Dragon Ball Super.’ And no, this is not the upcoming appearance of Black Frieza in the current manga series by Toyotaro—still on hiatus following the death of Akira Toriyama—but rather a new version created for the video game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 called Golden Frieza (Ultra Supervillain). Here is the trailer for this new transformation of Frieza in action.
This is how Golden Frieza fights (Ultra Supervillain)
Golden Frieza (Ultra Supervillain) is now available as a selectable character in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, a video game that continues to receive new content despite being on the market for years, with new characters in the form of DLC, such as Future Saga Chapter 3, which also includes Broly in his Dragon Ball Super version: “When two brilliant minds collide, the most dangerous plan strikes Conton City...,” reads the message accompanying this new trailer.
So much so that Bandai Namco recently announced that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was about to receive its new DLC called Future Saga Chapter 3. Well, the new content is now available for fans to enjoy this new version of Golden Frieza, dubbed Golden Frieza (Ultra Supervillain), joining other characters who have received this designation as part of the Xenoverse universe.
While fans continue to wait for Black Frieza to unleash his full power in the upcoming chapters of the Dragon Ball Super manga as part of the official canon, those who want to enjoy non-canonical but official versions of iconic characters from the series can continue playing Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, whose new content continues to expand its already extensive roster of fighters, as is the case with this unreleased version of Frieza.
Let’s hope that 2026 will be the year Toyotaro continues the manga and Toei Animation presents us with new audiovisual content, whether it be a new movie, a second season of Dragon Ball Daima, or a new project. New developments regarding Dragon Ball are expected to be announced in January 2026, in particular a new video game.
