Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO will have the most accurate representation of Hercule/Mr. Satan ever

The newest Budokai Tenkaichi game includes a playable Hercule, but unlike previous iterations, they chose to stick strictly to the canon.

Mr Satán Dragon Ball

Hercule (or Mr. Satan, as he’s known in most of the world) is one of those characters that endears himself to Dragon Ball fans, giving him a popularity that always makes him a candidate to appear in any fighting game. But of course, when he does it, we have to keep in mind that he is the weakest character of all, at astronomical distances from the rest. Fighting games based on Dragon Ball tend, by necessity, to epically ignore the power levels of its characters, which is the only possible way Yamcha can beat Vegeta, for example.

But in the case of the martial arts champion and Gohan’s father-in-law, things are a bit more exaggerated, since practically anyone in the cast could beat him without blinking, plus he doesn’t know how to fly, which already poses a serious design problem for him.

The most common solution is to equip him with a jetpack, in addition to giving him different gadgets in the form of weapons and explosives, to justify, in that way, causing damage to godlike characters. However, the humorous tone of the character is always made clear, one of his best-known specials being one in which he hits many blows in succession to a rival who does not even flinch. But Sparking! ZERO goes a step further and raises the level of immersion of the joke to new heights.

For a start, no jetpacks, Hercule, it seems, runs to meet his enemy and uses a powerful jump to reach him when he is in the air, then falling “in style.” Then there are other striking details, such as that when it comes to accumulating Ki, instead of emanating energy, what he does is direct some light sources towards him, the kind of cinematographic tricks that he said the Z fighters used when he met them in the tournament against Perfect Cell.

And finally, regarding his special move, the developers do the most appropriate and convincing thing that has been seen so far: making Majin Boo appear suddenly and hit next to his dear friend, making him look good without making it very noticeable.

Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO will release on October 11, 2024, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
