Dragon Ball Super corrects one of its biggest mistakes and gives Broly the place he deserves

The legendary Saiyan stars in several pages of the new chapter of Dragon Ball Super. In case there was any doubt, more canon than ever.

Dragon Ball Super continues on a long journey, which means that the entire superhero movie is recreated in the manga, something that some will applaud because it adds weight to the overall story, and others will consider unnecessary because it slowly moves on to new worlds. Either way, the reality is that everything we saw in the last movie starring Piccolo and Gohan is faithfully recreated, with one nuance. In chapter 93, which you can read for free at this link, Toyotaro decided to emphasize Broly and correct one of the mistakes made with him in the manga. The legendary Saiyan has the place he deserves.

If we go back to the end of Tournament of Power, in the manga, Broly’s presence and the events of the movie were reduced to a vignette telling what happened. That this new Broly is canon should be known to everyone, but there are always clueless people who think that if he did not appear in the manga, they could not consider it so. Well, for the skeptics that there were, this is over: in chapter 93, the events of Broly’s movie are reviewed in several pages.

It is not the whole movie by far, but Toyotaro does an excellent job of contextualizing everything that happened with this saiyan, starting with his banishment by Vegeta’s father, his recruitment by Freezer, and all the battles he had with Vegeta and Goku, with Gogeta’s fusion as the climax. We see moments of the confrontation, and the final transformation of Broly, and this also serves to give context to the fact that this Saiyan is now training on Bill’s planet with his new rivals, as happens in the superhero movie.

So in one fell swoop, we have the vignettes we always wanted to see, but couldn’t, months ago, of how Toyotaro depicted Broly’s fight with Goku and Vegeta (even if it’s only five pages), and it serves as a good link for the clueless who follow the manga and not the movies.

The story remains the same

As for the plot, it remains the same as we knew in the movie, focusing on that training with the three Saiyans, Piccolo seeking to awaken his hidden power with Shenron and learning more about the Red Ribbon’s plans. Of course, we have seen some new vignettes like Goten and Trunks talking because they have learned that something is happening. We will see if they have some more protagonism or if it is a simple anecdote. The next chapter will be released on June 20.
