‘Dragon Ball’s’ first official store is opening in Japan this fall

Toei and Shueisha celebrate 40 years of Goku with a permanent retail space in Tokyo.

Update:

In celebration of the franchise’s 40th anniversary, Toei Animation, Shueisha, and Bird Studio have announced the opening of the first-ever official Dragon Ball store. Scheduled to launch in Tokyo in fall 2025, the store will offer a permanent home for fans to explore the series’ legacy and shop exclusive merchandise.

While exact details are still under wraps, the store promises:

  • Limited-edition goods available only at this location
  • Anniversary-themed collectibles tied to the original manga and anime
  • Rotating product drops featuring characters from 'Dragon Ball’, 'Z’, 'GT’, 'Super’, and 'Daima’
  • Interactive displays and photo zones based on iconic scenes

The store will also serve as a hub for future collaborations, including apparel, figures, and crossover events with other Japanese brands.

Why now?

The announcement comes just months after the passing of Akira Toriyama, the legendary creator of 'Dragon Ball’, who died in March 2024. The store is part of a broader tribute to his legacy, which includes:

  • A new collector’s box set of the original manga
  • The ongoing anime 'Dragon Ball: Daima’
  • A planned Dragon Ball theme park in Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya City

Where and when

  • Location: Tokyo, Japan (exact address TBA)
  • Opening window: Fall 2025
  • Updates: Will be posted on the official Dragon Ball website and social media channels

Despite being one of the most iconic anime franchises in history, 'Dragon Ball has never had a permanent retail store, unlike 'Pokémon’, 'One Piece’, or 'JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’. This launch marks a major milestone for fans, collectors, and the anime industry at large.
