Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will further enrich the JRPG catalog of Nintendo Switch
First gameplay from the remake of Dragon Quest I & II, coming to all platforms in 2025.

One of the best-received classic JRPGs of recent months is finally coming to Nintendo Switch, as just confirmed in the Nintendo Direct. It is Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, a revision of the original games from the 80s. Dragon Quest III Remake was released in November 2024 on all platforms, so we can enjoy the trilogy in full during this 2025, although a specific date has not been specified.
“It is not only a vastly improved version of a classic like Dragon Quest III, it is also a fantastic JRPG that brings to the table an unforgettable adventure,” wrote our colleagues in Spain in their analysis of the remake of the third installment, which chronologically takes place before its two previous iterations, “a game that has plenty of arguments to conquer any lover of the formula in its most traditional aspect: turn-based combat, a huge world full of secrets to find, endearing characters, a memorable soundtrack ...”
8 years of Nintendo Switch
At a time when generations are becoming increasingly blurred when we talk about PlayStation and Xbox, the Nintendo Switch has completed a solid 8-year lifespan. Launched on March 3, 2017, the console has maintained solid sales figures throughout this time, making it the second best-selling console in history, behind only the PlayStation 2, which it is expected to surpass sooner rather than later.
The success of Nintendo’s console has been based on the resounding exclusivity of all its first-party games, making it clear to the user that the only way to enjoy them is on the brand’s console, without ambiguity: games like Super Mario Odyssey, the two major installments of The Legend of Zelda (Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom), Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Super Mario Bros. Wonder... can only be played on Nintendo Switch, never on other consoles or PC.
Next Wednesday, April 2, its successor, Nintendo Switch 2, will be unveiled in company, which aims to have a very similar success.
