Dune: Part 2 first reactions are extremely positive, getting compared to “The Lord of the Rings”

The Denis Villeneuve sequel to Dune, releasing on theaters March 15, is already getting its first gleaming reviews that set it as the year’s biggest blockbuster.

The actors, crew, and producers of Dune: Part 2 have walked the red carpet at the London premiere of the film. The continuation of the film directed by Denis Villeneuve, whose premiere took place in 2021, has become one of the most anticipated adaptations for lovers of science fiction and the universe created by Frank Herbert. During the launch, some critics had the opportunity to enjoy the film for the first time, and judging by the first reactions, their opinions have been more than positive. Some like Jordan Farley, from Total Film, have even mentioned the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy.

“Blown away by #DunePartTwo. Found it even more immersive, tactile and emotional than Part One. The clarity, heft and scale of the action is staggering. For me, the whole occupies a rarified place alongside The Lord of the Rings as the definitive version of a seminal text.” Steven Weintraub of Collider, has also left the movie theater happy: “Blown away by #DunePartTwo. Found it even more immersive, tactile and emotional than Part One. The clarity, heft and scale of the action is staggering. For me, the whole occupies a rarified place alongside The Lord of the Rings as the definitive version of a seminal text.”

A faithful adaptation, but “with intelligent changes”

Eric Eisenberg, critic at CinemaBlend, has highlighted the quality of the adaptation, which has some changes “Having watched #DunePartTwo, I can say I have ridden a sandworm. It’s a magical experience, and the faithful adaptation fans have been waiting for (albeit w/ some smart changes). A fascinating examination of zealotry & postcolonial politics wrapped in a breathtaking blockbuster.”

Griffin Schiller applauds the director: “Having watched #DunePartTwo, I can say I have ridden a sandworm. It’s a magical experience, and the faithful adaptation fans have been waiting for (albeit w/ some smart changes). A fascinating examination of zealotry & postcolonial politics wrapped in a breathtaking blockbuster.”
