Dune: Prophecy, HBO’s new series now has a release window and a new teaser

It’s been 5 years since its announcement, but finally ‘Dune: Prophecy’ is closer than we thought.

Through its social networks, HBO has released a new teaser of the spin-off series of the Dune universe. But beyond seeing new images of what awaits us in ‘Dune Prophecy’, a release window was given for November this year, exclusively for MAX. The series follows the origin of the sect that will become the Bene Gesserit, 10,000 years before the adventure of Paul Atreides.

“From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, DUNE: PROPHECY follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. DUNE: PROPHECY is inspired by the novel SISTERHOOD OF DUNE, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson,” says the official synopsis.

More Dune is on the way

For fans of the sci-fi epic, there is more Dune on the horizon. ‘Dune Messiah, the third film in the saga directed by Denis Villeneuve, is scheduled for release in December 2026 and is being billed by Warner Bros. as a “Denis Villeneuve Event Film”. Given that his most critically and popularly acclaimed films are the two parts of ‘Dune’, the intentions are clear: it was a roundabout way of confirming the release date of ‘Dune 3′ to build anticipation among fans. Despite this success, Villeneuve is clear that this will be the last film in the series that the he will direct.
