EA SPORTS FC Mobile, a radical change that goes hand in hand with the new branding
The new mobile title has changed its DNA to be closer to real football.
This week we traveled to Sydney, Australia to learn all about the new EA SPORTS FC Mobile, the new title for mobile soccer devices that will arrive with a new image after leaving the FIFA brand. Based on Trinity technology, this new installment promises to revolutionize the game that has brought virtual soccer to over 150 million devices.
Gameplay innovations in the new EA SPORTS FC Mobile
The heart of a video game on a mobile device comes with accessibility challenges due to the virtual buttons on the touch screen. The development team has managed to strike a balance between making the game accessible and rewarding the skills of the hardcore gamer.
For this, more space has been given to the touch buttons on the screen and each of the actions will have subsections that influence both the impact and the reaction of each player. On the other hand, the core of the game has taken care of the attributes of each player, as for example Vini Jr, cover of this edition, will have those qualities that will allow him to evade defenders as he does in real life. This is something similar to what we will see in EA SPORTS FC 24, but the difference is that here artificial intelligence will not be as present due to the technical limitations of mobile platforms.
The shots will have a section where depending on the movement you make with the button, the type of shot that the player will make and especially the power will be indicated with a bar that will tell you how strong the shot is.
It will not be as permissive as it used to be
Part of the DNA of this new version will try to compensate for the skill of the players, so the shots and passes will be affected by the position as well as their surroundings, so it will not be as easy to make those shots that we saw in previous versions. In the same way it will affect the leg they shoot with, the position of the shot, etc.
Updated animations
Some of the improvements are in this section, as the face shots, crowd, stadiums and net physics have been retouched to give a better context to each match. However, the animation process has also had an impact on the reaction time of the shots, making them more agile so that players can have a more satisfying experience.
Pace and timing
Now the game will be a little more tactical, as dribbling will play an important role due to the level of control we will have over the players, but also defensively we will see new movements, such as a kind of stretched leg that will allow us to anticipate the passes of other players.
Interface and camera redesign
Something that EA SPORTS has made clear is that they want to be a referent in terms of the viewing format for the games, seeking to be an example for television broadcasts in real life. This is where EA SPORTS FC Mobile integrates, just like its big brother, the visualization of match statistics on the pitch while the cameras make the experience something close to a television broadcast. For example, in free kicks, there will be a new camera much lower and focused on the shooter. The replays have been improved with a good number of shots for a more realistic experience.
As for the game interface, we can now make changes with simple drag-and-drop movements that allow us to see the statistics of the players we are replacing. We have also added features such as being able to select the logo of our favorite team, the logo of our user, the ball, emoticons to use during the games, uniform kits, select the number of our players and even the type of uniforms (long sleeves, tight or not, type of socks, etc.).
Maximum customization
Another change that has been added is that we will be able to improve our players in the pre-match section, choosing different types of training to increase their skill points.
A change of more than 50% of the game
In a chat we had with Timo Mueller, the Associate Gameplay Producer for EA SPORTS FC Mobile, he told us that the game has changed almost 50% compared to its predecessor. This can give us an insight into the redesign, although he emphasized that in terms of gameplay, they have tried to respect more everything that the fans want from the mobile game. In addition, when asked if this game will be compatible with console controls, Mueller confirmed that there will be, but not at launch.
Founders Program also available on EA SPORTS FC MOBILE
To kick off this new era, current players of this version will be able to become Founders of this edition before the game is released within the current application, without the need to re-download the app. All those who participate in the Founders event, which will take place between August 24 and September 26, 2023, will be granted FC MOBILE Founder status and will be able to unlock special in-game player benefits and items by the time the game launches.
EA SPORTS FC Mobile is scheduled to launch on September 26th, riding on the release window of EA SPORTS FC 24, with more details to be announced soon.
