Elden Ring
Elden Ring and its DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, have a trick to easily reveal fake walls and hidden passages
An item hidden in a side dungeon that is easily missable can help you open illusory walls in Elden Ring, and the trick still works on Shadow of the Erdtree
Elden Ring and its DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, are dominating the attention of gamers all over the world, once again. Anyone who has been enjoying FromSoftware games for years knows that it is not unusual to go down a hallway only to hit a dead end. But some times, those are actually secret paths to a treasure. Well, it turns out that there is a very easy to obtain item in Elden Ring that allows you to uncover illusory walls without having to go around hitting every wall in the game.
It is not known exactly if it is some kind of glitch or if it is a hidden use of the item in question, but the trick is to use Margit’s Shackle to create a magical explosion which, while it is true that it does not inflict damage to enemies, it still seems to affect the surfaces of the world around you, since it reveals illusory walls and passageways in the same way they disappear when we hit them or roll towards them.
The most interesting thing is that this explosion, which could be defined as invisible, appears to have a huge range, so it is highly recommended to use it from time to time in dungeons such as catacombs, places that are very prone to having passages hidden behind false walls. Besides, it also allows you to activate mechanisms such as elevators and traps that require being hit. In the following video, you can see the enormous distance at which it works.
Where is Margit’s Shackle?
Margit’s Shackle can be purchased from Patches for 5,000 runes. This NPC is found in a secondary dungeon called Murkwater Cave, in Limgrave. At the end of this dungeon there is no boss, but a chest. If you open it, Patches will appear and will be hostile, but do not kill him; Instead, when you take away half his bar of health he will ask you for mercy, so let him live and you can buy items from him, including the shackle. This is the location of the cave.
