FromSoftware

Elden Ring, Giant Trees, and the Soulsverse theory: is every FromSoftware game connected?

Fans of FromSoftware have been suspicious of all of those huge trees in Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and more…

Elden Ring

Lordran, Yharnam, the Lands Between... FromSoftware fans have been exploring inhospitable worlds and facing countless dangers for over a decade. After the premiere of Demon’s Souls exclusively for PS3, came the title that unleashed the “soulslike” genre: Dark Souls (2011). If you are a fan of the game you will perfectly remember that beautiful picture that the game had prepared for everyone who came to Ash Lake through the Great Hollow. Well, today there are many who continue to speculate about the importance of that very place.

One way or another, Ash Lake’s giant tree trunks, similar to large pillars raised from nowhere, are present in other FromSoftware games. In the first Dark Souls they can even be seen from the Tomb of the Giants, home of Nito, Lord of the Dead, and of course, they can be seen in their maximum splendor from the beach of the aforementioned lake. But did you know that it is possible to find them in both Bloodborne and Elden Ring?

In Bloodborne they can be seen perfectly from the Hunter’s Dream, that place located in absolute nothingness, you can see them on the horizon. They rise from the fog and point to the sky. In Elden Ring, a title that gives special importance to giant trees due to the relevance of the Erdtree in the events of history, you can also find these trunks during the battle against the Elden Beast, just after defeating Radagon. In this case, the trunks or pillars have a translucent color, as if they were some type of magical element.

As is evident, the presence of these trees in three games - and three worlds - with no apparent connection has given rise to many questions, but the truth is that there is no single official answer. Are Lordran, Yharnam, and the Lands Between connected? Are they part of the same place in different space-time? Is it just a nod on the part of From Software or does the Soulsverse really exist?
