FromSoftware

Elden Ring just got its first update of 2024, and it’s a very well-received one

FromSoftware has just released the first update of 2024 for Elden Ring, bringing with it some much-needed anti-cheat upgrades.

Elden Ring has just received its first update of 2024, bringing it to Version 1.10.1 and with it some upgrades to the game’s Anti-cheat systems for the Steam version of the title. You can find the full patch notes through this link, but all in all it seems to be a smaller patch meant to combat the ever-evolving wave of cheaters that tend to plague multiplayer games on PC.

As mentioned before, this patch is aimed squarely at the Steam version of the game, and is meant to rein in some of the sadly rampant cheating that has been present in the game since its release almost two years ago. While it should help alleviate some of the biggest issues with the multiplayer, players shouldn’t expect huge changes in the online ecosystem after this. However, it is still an obligatory download if you want to continue playing.

The ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ expansion is still MIA

Unfortunately for fans of Elden Ring and FromSoftware, there is nothing else in this small patch that could point us in the direction of a Shadow of the Erdtree DLC release date. Ever since its announcement over a year ago, no news or updates have been revealed about the game other than that the team is still working on it, and that it’ll launch when its ready.

Ever since the release of Elden Ring in February 25, 2022, FromSoftware has been actively updating the game while working on other projects. Last year they released Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon to critical acclaim, but after that no other project apart from this highly awaited expansion has been revealed.

However, when the DLC does arrive, it’s highly likely that hordes of players will come running to the game. So it makes sense to reinforce the anti-cheat system as well as compatibility for rising platforms such as Steam OS.
