Elden Ring: Nightreign won’t release with crossplay between consoles or PC
As FromSoftware reveals more details about the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign, it’s been revealed that the new multiplayer title won’t allow for crossplay.
A few days ago, gamers lived an unforgettable night with the 10th-anniversary edition of Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards. The charismatic host prepared a lot of high-caliber announcements that surprised everyone, and among all of them, one of the most notable was Elden Ring: Nightreign.
FromSoftware was already going to be one of the stars of the gala as it was nominated for GOTY for ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’, the incredible DLC of the base game. However, the studio took advantage of the occasion to officially present its new and ambitious project. In Elden Ring: Nightreign, players will return to the Lands Between to enjoy a fully multiplayer-oriented survival experience.
FromSoftware is shifting gears
Logically, this announcement generated great expectations among fans, but not everything was going to be good news. Hours after the Game Awards came to an end, Junya Ishizaki, the game’s director, confirmed to IGN that the game wouldn’t have crossplay support.
This means that users will only be able to play with other people with whom they share the same platform family. That is, PS4 players will be able to play with PS5 players and Xbox One players with Xbox Series X|S players, but they will not be able to do so with each other.
On the other hand, a few hours ago it was revealed that on January 10, players can register for an Elden Ring: Nightreign network test on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game will release in full at some point in 2025.
