‘Euphoria’ season 3 is the worst yet, according to critics: “An unhinged disaster”
The new season of the HBO Max series starring Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, and Jacob Elordi fails to win over critics.

After a four-year wait, the new episodes of ‘Euphoria’ will finally premiere this coming Sunday, April 12, in the United States. This third season is highly anticipated by both fans of the popular HBO Max series and those curious about a show featuring three of today’s biggest Hollywood stars: Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, and Jacob Elordi. However, it seems critics aren’t entirely convinced by this new batch of episodes, noting that Season 3 is the worst of the bunch.
Too slow and lacking narrative coherence
Just a few days before its global premiere on HBO Max, the specialized press has already had access to the first three episodes of the third season of ‘Euphoria,’ condemning it to a modest 45% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes and highlighting a series of shortcomings that have failed to win over critics. After all, let’s remember that the first season achieved an 80%, while the second came in very close behind at 78%. For now, it doesn’t seem to be the case that the third season is “too slow and lacks narrative coherence.”
While we’ve only seen the initial reactions from some of the most influential media outlets, the truth is that many more reviews are yet to be added to the overall assessment of this third season. Let’s see what the most prominent critics have said about Season 3 of ‘Euphoria,’ such as The Wrap, which states: “It’s hard to root for people who aren’t interested in rooting for themselves, and too few of these characters have been given the capacity for it.”
The Hollywood Reporter adds: “The show has become increasingly busy, without necessarily becoming increasingly involving and, especially in the second episode, I was intellectually checked out much more than was ideal.” For its part, the New York Post notes that it is “an unhinged disaster” and that “if you want narrative coherence and character consistency, Season 3 leaves you wanting.”

Vulture notes that pacing is one of its main issues: “The episodes are overly languid thanks to Rue’s painfully expository narration and the unresolved tension between the series’ familiar character dynamics and flashy new genre vehicle.” However, not all reviews are negative; The Independent notes that “‘Euphoria’ owns its contradictions, and, in this final season, shows it’s mastered them.”
