Neon Genesis Evangelion’ is one of the most influential and acclaimed anime series in history. The work created by Hideaki Anno and originally produced by Gainax celebrated its 30th anniversary this past October—and did so with a major announcement: a new anime project with a script written by Yoko Taro, the creator behind titles such as NieR: Automata and one of the most distinctive figures in the video game industry.

The project will be a joint production between CloverWorks and Studio Khara. The former has worked on highly popular series such as ‘Spy x Family’ and ‘Wind Breaker’, while Khara has been closely tied to the Evangelion universe through the ‘Rebuild of Evangelion’ film series, which has been in development since 2007.

A top-tier creative team

This new Evangelion anime will also feature music by Keiichi Okabe, a frequent collaborator of Yoko Taro and composer for franchises such as Tekken, Drakengard, and the NieR series itself.
