Every Assassin’s Creed Mirage review score: is the return to basics a success?
Let’s take a look at what the critics around the world say about Assassin’s Creed Mirage, now that the reviews are out and the game is just hours from release.
There was a desire for Assassin’s Creed. It is true that Valhalla has had many expansions, but 2020 was the last big release of a new title in the series. And the one that comes out today Friday, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, also seems special, since it intends to recover the formula and setting of the first game (and not so much what we have been experiencing since Origins and Odyssey). That is to say that instead of being faced with an open-world RPG, now we have a shorter, more compact adventure focused on the narrative whose aesthetics (9th century Baghdad) reminds us of the times of Altair.
The opinion of the press and international critics seems unanimous regarding Assasin’s Creed Mirage. Everyone agrees that it is not the best game in the series, but they clarify that it does not seek to be that, either. It is a delivery to break with the formula of the last three and refresh the audience a little, taking advantage along the way to pay tribute to the origins of the saga. As our colleague Borja Ruete clarifies in the MeriStation review, this return to the past is for good and bad.
“Mirage is an adventure more focused on stealth, assassinations, and parkour, a much more compact and narrative experience that is highly recommended (especially with that fantastic recreation of Baghdad), but it has some mechanics (AI or combat system) that feel a bit outdated.”
