Naughty Dog

Every The Last of Us Part II Remastered review score: is the roguelike mode worth it?

Let’s take a look at what critics around the world have said about Naghty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II Remastered, to see if it’s worth the upgrade to PS5.

The Last of Us Parte 2

After the cancellation of the multiplayer Last of Us title, Naughty Dog tries to raise its head with a remastering of their masterpiece that, yes, may not bring many new features at a graphic level, but is full of new content. More a director’s cut than a remaster, this version seems to have convinced reviewers, where the press has reinforced their love for the game and praise the addition of ‘No Return’, a roguelike mode. Although it is early, this edition (which you can get it for $10 if you have the original game) is currently the highest rated game of 2024 with an average score of 91 worldwide.

What’s new in The Last of Us Part II: Remastered?

These are all the new features of the The Last of Us Part II Remastered:

  • Slight graphical upgrade: better resolution and framerate, retouched textures and shadows, greater drawing distance and polished animations... etc.
  • New roguelike mode, No Return: very complete, with between 5 and 15 hours of content, a lot of playable characters, challenges and modifiers to master to get the new trophies.
  • Three new levels: short, accessible from the menu and in a state of early development, we miss that they were finished and integrated into the main story.
  • Free play with the guitar: beautiful and most relaxing and satisfying, but sheet music and tutorials would have been appreciated.
  • Speedrun mode and skins for characters and weapons: Only unlockable after completing the story.
