Everything we know about Battlefield 6: campaign, multiplayer, crossplay, battle royale, editions, release date, and more
All the key details about Battlefield 6, which is set to be one of the most notable games of the year and return the series to its rightful place in the world of war shooters.
Battlefield 6 is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2025, and its presentation event has left those who were clamoring for a military-themed shooter without crazy skins and garish colors, as is currently the case with Call of Duty, wanting more. In this article, we review all the details of Battlefield 6, EA’s next big hit: release date, available platforms, game modes, editions, and much more.
Battlefield 6 Campaign Mode: The bad guys are a private military company
The reveal trailer for Battlefield 6 confirmed that, after its absence in Battlefield 2042, Battlefield 6 will indeed feature a traditional campaign mode. While Battlefield V and Battlefield 1 opted for a format of several separate mini-campaigns called War Stories, the plot of this new installment will be similar to those of Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4: a single campaign with a single narrative thread.
In this case, the villains are a private military company called Pax Armata, who have carried out a brutal attack on American soil. The United States will not stand idly by, and will respond with all the force and power of its military-industrial complex. As the story unfolds, we will drive tanks across the Sahara, take the beaches of Gibraltar, and defend New York from invasion.
Battlefield 6 multiplayer modes and maps confirmed
Of course, the star feature of this video game is its numerous multiplayer modes. Battlefield 6 aims to become the king of modern war shooters once again thanks to its wide range of modes: Conquest, Advance, Assault, Take the Hill, Team Deathmatch, and Domination are just a few of them.
In addition, the nine maps available at launch have been confirmed, with the return of a legendary map from Battlefield 3: Operation Firestorm. The list is completed by Siege of Cairo, Empire State, New Sobek, Iberian Offensive, Liberation Peak, Manhattan Bridge, Saints Quarter, and Mirak Valley. For Spanish fans, there is a special incentive: Saints Quarter is an infantry map set in the old town of Gibraltar, while Iberian Offensive takes the (fictional) war further into our country, with tanks and other vehicles.
Battlefield 6 has the most realistic destruction in the entire series
A crucial aspect of the Battlefield franchise is the destruction of the settings, and this time around, we are looking at the most realistic physics system in the entire series. We will be able to wage all-out wars where no place is completely safe to hide: it is possible to completely destroy any building in the settings, with a high level of realism.
This means that destruction is not simply aesthetic, but also tactical and an integral part of the gameplay. For example, we can open up new, faster routes to objectives by demolishing walls, or completely eliminate enemy patrols stationed in the same building by blowing it up. Although Battlefield 6 has abandoned the Levolution system introduced in Battlefield 4, it could return in the future, according to its creators.
Is there a battle royale mode in Battlefield 6?
Yes, Battlefield 6 will have an official battle royale mode. EA and DICE have announced that during the second week of September 2025, they will test the performance of a battle royale mode that will be ready for the final version of the game. In principle, it will feature 100 players divided into 25 different squads, vehicles, complete environment destruction, and the class system from classic multiplayer modes.
Will Battlefield 6 have crossplay?
Yes, Battlefield 6 will feature crossplay at launch, as confirmed by the recent multiplayer test. PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S players will be able to play on the same servers. In addition, this option can be enabled or disabled according to your preferences, so you can play with and against users from all platforms, or only with those from your own.
