EVO 2024 confirms the official games of the event for this year, and Dragon Ball FighterZ is out
The lineup of fighting games for EVO 2024 has been revealed, with all of the brand-new titles of the genre on the main stage.
EVO, the largest and most popular fighting game event in the world, has recently announced the lineup for the upcoming 2024 championship. As usual, the roster of chosen games has adapted to modern times, bringing in some much needed fresh blood, but sadly having to leave behind other beloved titles.
This time EVO 2024 shines by the inclusion of plenty of new titles, most of which have released only in the past year. And while we mourn the exit of Dragon Ball FighterZ from the main stage, developer Arc System Works still dominates the event with not one, not two, but three fantastic games in exhibition.
This is the official EVO 2024 lineup of fighting games
This year, Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, and Mortal Kombat 1 are debuting on the EVO stage, all three of them having released between the last event and this new upcoming one. Joining them in this category are 2 new titles from Arc System Works, which means that out of the 8 disciplines, 5 of them have the chance to give us new blood in the competition.
It is always exciting when there’s a shakeup to the lineup, but so many new titles have the potential to bring much needed attention from beyond the fighting game community. We’ll have to keep our eyes open when looking at the side tournaments as well, as that is where beloved games from the event’s past stay alive with their own little communities. Such has been the case for years with Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and now, with Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Evo 2024 will take place from July 19 to 21, hosted in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Three day event badges are priced at $180 (plus state taxes and fees). You can check EVO’s official site to register and get your passes before they sell out.
