Fallout 4's New Next-Generation Update Is Now Available: What It Includes and the Latest Features

Bethesda has released the highly anticipated Fallout 4 update for current-generation consoles. These are the new features it brings.

It’s finally here, April 25th, the “day to play Fallout 4 on next gen” has arrived. After the success of the Prime Video series, there’s no denying that this has led to many gamers wanting to dust off their copies of past Fallout games, as well as a whole bunch of new users wanting to live one of the many experiences the Wasteland has in store. As announced a few weeks ago, at around 11:00 a.m. ET today, the highly anticipated next-generation version of Fallout 4 launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles, and PC via Steam and for the first time on the Epic Game Store. But what makes it a next-gen version? We break down everything that was announced.

Fallout 4 Gets an Upgrade for Current Generation Consoles

Considering that Fallout 4 was released 9 years ago, things have changed a lot in the gaming world. Through an update from Bethesda, this version will be a native version, so it will take full advantage of the new console features. However, do not expect a radical visual change, it is simply the game released in 2015, but optimized. This update will bring native versions to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, as well as performance and quality modes with up to 60 FPS and increased resolutions.

But that’s not all, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users will also see stability improvements and fixes for some login and mission issues. On the other hand, PC gamers will not be left behind, as the Next Generation Update will also arrive for PC, bringing support for wide and ultra-wide monitors, fixes to the Creation Kit, as well as stability improvements, mods, and bug fixes for players who have the game on Steam, the Microsoft Store, and GOG. Steam players with a Steam Deck will also be able to enjoy the verified version on the handheld.

More Content Coming to Fallout 4′s Wasteland

But that’s not all, as Fallout 4 will also feature a new story and a couple of content packs.

On the storyline side, the “Echoes of the Past” quest will introduce The Enclave, where players must stop this faction from “spreading their dangerous ideology and gaining a foothold in the Commonwealth.” Along with this, the following workshop items will be added:

  • Enclave Weapon Skins
  • Enclave Armor Skins
  • Tesla Cannon
  • Hellfire Power Armor
  • X-02 Power Armor
  • Heavy Incinerator

Also added is the Makeshift Weapon Pack, which allows you to use unconventional objects like a piggy bank to create deadly weapons. Finally, 38 new Halloween decorations are added to celebrate your party with the New England Technocrat Society.
