If we talk about the metroidvania genre, we automatically feel compelled to talk about Hollow Knight, one of the most acclaimed titles of the 21st century. Team Cherry’s adventure through the Kingdom of Hallownest arrived without making much noise, but it only needed a few days to conquer lovers of the formula and become a resounding commercial success.
As you may well know, there is a sequel on the way called Hollow Knight: Silksong, which began development as a DLC for the original game and eventually became a new game starring Hornet, in which we will explore a new world and face more than 150 new enemies. Its release date is unknown, but as you can see below, there is one fan who doesn’t want to wait any longer.
Yes, it’s just what it sounds like: a Hollow Knight: Silksong fan project that you can play through this link, without having to download anything.
Called “Horo Nite: Solksing”,and made by only one person, it is very curious because you can control Hornet, fight enemies and overcome some challenges in great detail. Of course, its creator explains that the intellectual property belongs to Team Cherry and that this is nothing more than a tribute to Hollow Knight.
An essential metroidvania
That is how we Meristation called it in our review published in March 2017. A complex game, full of secrets and very challenging that combines the usual elements of the metroidvania genre with certain Dark Souls mechanics from From Software games. It is available on all platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Finally, here is the trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong. The real one.
