Fans of ‘The Boys’ are already fearing a ‘Game of Thrones’-style ending: “I’ve lost all hope”

Prime Video releases the poster for the final episode of ‘The Boys,’ a direct nod to Garth Ennis’s comic book that promises a fitting conclusion despite criticism of the season.

Update:

Criticism of the last season of ‘The Boys,’ which is currently streaming on Prime Video, continues to pour in on social media, but the series marches on, unstoppable, toward its conclusion. As a teaser for the final episode, the official poster has been released—and at least this much is certain: it promises a finale that lives up to the comic book.

Over the course of the seven episodes that have aired so far, we’ve gotten an in-depth look at Soldier Boy’s sex life, witnessed Homelander’s far-right parody—which is so realistic it’s not very funny—and discovered that the key to defeating him actually lies with Kimiko. However, fans were hoping for something more epic from a finale that took nearly seven years to arrive.

In short, there is genuine concern that the series finale won’t live up to expectations. The fanbase believes there have been too many filler episodes, and that there have been many scenes intended to set the stage for future spin-offs. The presence not only of Soldier Boy, but also of Bombsight and Golden Geisha, has made the “promotion” of ‘Vought Rising’ obvious, with appearances that many consider to have been shoehorned in.

At the very least, the poster is a clear homage to one of the final panels of the original work by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, and while it’s by no means the Northern Irish author’s best work, it did receive less criticism than the series is currently facing.

“Are you expecting a huge battle scene every episode?” said Eric Kripke, the show’s showrunner, recently, reiterating what he had already said a few months ago. The budget for ‘The Boys’ isn’t that of ‘Game of Thrones,’ and it can’t match the spectacle of the series set in Westeros. That hasn’t stopped fans, as we’ve noted, from being less than satisfied with the course of this final season, and from wondering how it will end when there are still so many loose ends to tie up.

When does the finale of ‘The Boys’ premiere?

This week, we’ll get to enjoy the final episode, which will air on Wednesday on Amazon’s streaming platform, but it will premiere in theaters on the 19th, exclusively in the United States.

It’s like an hour and five,” Eric Kripke said about the finale’s runtime. “We’re not doing that huge, super-sized 90-minute thing. I don’t know if we would have had… I think the audience might have ended up getting bored had we gone that long. But no, we’re like an hour five, an hour six max, I think. But yeah, they’re all jack-packed, these episodes.”
