The moment millions of RPG fans have been waiting for is almost here: the release of Final Fantasy XVI, the sixteenth main installment in Square Enix’s legendary RPG series. It has been a long wait but there are only a few hours left, so let’s take the opportunity to go over everything we know: release date, platforms, and the exact time you can play if you have not pre-ordered it on the PS Store.
Final Fantasy 16 release date and time
The long-awaited Final Fantasy XVI has its release date set for this Thursday, June 22, 2023. The game will be available exclusively for PS5, but later It might also come to PC. There has not been any mention of the game coming to Xbox Series X|S or Nintendo Switch, so fans on those consoles will either have to make the jump to PlayStation, wait for a PC release, or enjoy the title alongside friends or streamers.
At what time can you play Final Fantasy 16?
Besides those lucky users to whom their local or online store delivers their physical copies of the game ahead of schedule, the main question asked by all those who decide to pre-order it on PS5 in digital format is the exact time you can start playing. The game will officially launch at midnight in every region, meaning that as soon as the clock marks 00:00 of June 22, you’ll be able to start playing. That is, just when we go from Wednesday to Thursday you can start playing
Of course, to do so you’ll have to have the game downloaded and installed. With the game’s files being confirmed to have a size of 90.18 GB, and a day one patch announced after all, players should make sure to have at least 100 GB free on their PS5′s storage to be able to play.
With all this in mind, there’s one additional benefit to pre-ordering the game on the PlayStation Store: those who do so will be able to pre-load the game automatically at midnight, June 20, 2023. That is today! The game will download and install intself as soon as it’s able to do so so long as the console is on or in Rest Mode.
