Final Fantasy XVI’s new expansion, The Rising Tide, gets a release date and new trailer
The end of Clive’s story is coming to Final Fantasy XVI through its second DLC, The Rising Tide, and we just got a new trailer for it.
Final Fantasy XVI continues to expand its masterful story, and will do so by launching The Rising Tide. The game’s next DLC will arrive on April 18th and can be purchased separately at a price of $19.99, or with the Expansion Pass that also includes Echoes of the Fallen, the first DLC, for $24.99.
The story of The Rising Tide takes place before the end of Final Fantasy XVI, with a letter without a return address that arrives at the lair with a curious request. It speaks of the Dominant of Leviathan, the lost eikon of water, that needs to be rescued. To do so, Clive Rosfield and the rest of his companions will have to travel to Mysidia, a land that is hidden under the blue sky and where they will discover the tragic history of a forgotten town.
Final Fantasy XVI is expanded with a long-awaited DLC
The Rising Tide also brings an increase up to level 60 in story mode and up to level 110 in Final Fantasy mode (New Game+). During the adventure, we will obtain new abilities from the lost eikon with which we can dominate the tides and drown our enemies. New threats and adventures in Mysidia among which are the mythical Tonberry who have a terrifying appearance. Kairos Gate is a new mode that will be unlocked after completing the DLC and the main game, and in which we will have to fight for 20 stages, each one being more difficult than the last.
In our review of Final Fantasy XVI, we stated that it “arrived to mark a before and after in the AAA industry. From its evolution of a long-established franchise to something completely new and exciting, to the care its devs have had to the most minute aspects of the title, this game squeezes every ounce of performance from the PlayStation 5′s next-gen hardware, optimized and perfected as much as possible to create an astonishing experience.”
