Update:

The mystery surrounding Cory Barlog’s upcoming video game seems to be coming to an end. According to Nate the Hate, one of the industry’s best-known insiders, the director of God of War (2018) is leading the development of a spin-off of the Kratos saga starring none other than Faye, the late wife of the ghost of Sparta and mother of Atreus.

Apparently, this project is being created with the intention of expanding the God of War universe and creating a new saga within it. Sony Santa Monica is planning to announce the game at some point this year and, if there are no delays, it could be released in the first half of 2027. The insider also clarified that, according to the information they have access to, this title will feature gameplay that differs from that seen in God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarök, with a greater focus on action. This leak has been backed up by other industry insiders such as Shpeshal_Nick, who adds that the combat system will likely be more similar to that of Devil May Cry.

Goodbye to the new sci-fi IP?

Over the last few years, there has been much speculation that Cory Barlog was working on a new space-themed IP. The idea of Sony Santa Monica expanding its portfolio with something new and sci-fi excited many users, but it seems that PlayStation has other plans for one of its flagship studios.
