DC Studios

First image from ‘Supergirl’ keeps James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ logo with a very revealing change

Filming has already begun on the new DC Studios movie, and we already have the first image of Milly Alcock from the set with a detail that is sure to make headlines.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

The release of ‘Superman’ is fast approaching, kicking off James Gunn’s new DCU after the recent ‘Creature Commandos’ appetizer. However, the DC Studios train is still running full steam ahead with new productions in the works, including ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, the new movie starring actress Milly Alcock (‘Dragon House’) as Kara Zor-El, of whom we already have her first enigmatic photo from the set, revealing the logo she will be wearing on her costume, apparently the same as the one David Corenswet’s Superman will be wearing, but with a small and very revealing change: the yellow background color for blue.

The yellow disappears from the Supergirl icon

So Alcock appears from behind, sitting in her production chair with the Supergirl logo that she will wear on her costume. The emblem of the House of El, which this time will be a little different from the new Superman of the same universe. And while the design based on the more geometric and avant-garde logo of Kingdom Come’s Superman that Corenswet will wear on his costume is maintained, this time the yellow background color is replaced by blue.

Something that has already happened on other occasions such as the Kingdom Come costume -both comics and live action-, the Elseworlds story of the Communist Superman ‘Red Son’ or the costume from The CW’s ‘Supergirl’ with the blue background and a very thin yellow border around the emblem. In the case of Alcock’s costume, the design of the emblem remains the same as that of Corenswet’s Superman, so we would have confirmation that both belong to the same house -they are actually cousins-, thus ruling out any deviation from the original story.

Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El. Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every inch the unique Supergirl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely & Ana Nogueira,” James Gunn wrote alongside the photo.

Though we’ll have to wait to learn more about the change in the background color of the emblem, whether it’s for plot reasons or just to differentiate them. Milly Alcock is expected to make a cameo appearance as Kara Zor-El in ‘Superman’; will we see her in full costume? ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.
