Finally, and after endless speculation by ‘One Piece’ fans, we have a first glimpse of Tony Tony Chopper in live-action, the beloved manga character created by Eiichiro Oda who will appear in the second season of the Netflix live-action series scheduled for next year. Thanks to this first image of the character from behind, it is confirmed that he will be recreated by CGI, eliminating a possible interpretation by a real person and betting on a design completely faithful to the original work.
A very manga-like Tony Tony Chopper
And one of the big doubts about the second season of ‘One Piece’ on Netflix had to do with the way of recreating a character as peculiar as Tony Tony Chopper. After all, it seems that the decision was made to preserve the classic style of the character through CGI, even though the goal of the show’s creators was to rely as much as possible on practical effects. Fortunately, they chose a very faithful representation of Oda’s design, so fans of Luffy and company can rest easy.
Tony Tony Chopper joined Monkey D. Luffy’s crew during the second saga of the Manganime, becoming one of the main officers on board and acting as a doctor, healing the wounds of his companions. His unique appearance reflects the fact that he is actually a blue-nosed reindeer who ate the demon fruit Hito Hito, giving him anthropomorphic proportions and human intelligence.
Now we just have to discover his face and if the same origin of the character will be maintained in the live-action series with respect to the manganime. On the other hand, we can already enjoy a new video clip in which the main protagonists of the series participate in a lively script reading session, including Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu or Taz Skylar. The second season of ‘One Piece’ will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2025.
