Fortnite Battle Royale turns six and celebrates with a new birthday event

Epic Games’ flagship game is celebrating its sixth anniversary. Fortnite Battle Royale is celebrating its birthday with new quests and gifts for everyone.

The battle royale side of Fortnite turns six years old in September 2023, and like every year since its first anniversary, there’s a new birthday event.

Here’s what Fortnite’s Sixth Birthday Event is all about: New Quests and Gifts for Everyone

Fortnite’s sixth birthday event began this Tuesday, September 19, 2023, and will end on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 12:00 AM ET, according to the blog post on the website. As every year, classic items such as the Birthday Cake, Birthday Gifts! and Balloons have returned to the game:

  • Birthday Cake: We can find pieces of Birthday Cake around the giant birthday cakes in all the named locations on the map. They let us recover health and shield by eating them.
  • Birthday Gifts: These can be found on the ground and in chests. They are throwable objects that, when they hit the ground, create a giant birthday present that we can open to get the loot inside.
  • Balloons: These can be found on the ground and in chests. They allow us to fly at high altitudes... although enemy players can puncture them with a clean shot to make us fall.

In addition to these returning objects, the new Jump Balloon Reality has also been enabled, which serves to automatically receive balloons when we jump up to their maximum number.

Of course, we also have the birthday quests. Completing them not only gives us experience (20,000 XP per completed mission), but we can also get the following items for free:

  • Complete 1 Birthday Quest: Birthday Basher Pickaxe
  • Complete 3 Birthday Quests: Birthday Dash Spray
  • Complete 5 Birthday Quests: Slice O’ Six Back Bling

When was Fortnite released?

Fortnite: Save the World was released on July 25, 2017. A few months later, on September 26, 2017, Epic Games released Fortnite Battle Royale.

This is the sixth anniversary of Battle Royale. However, due to the immense popularity that Fortnite Battle Royale has achieved over Fortnite: Save the World, many people refer to Battle Royale as “Fortnite”, plain and simple.
