Fortnite does it again: this is how it trolls its players with a new death trap
Epic Games is once again laughing at Fortnite players with a new cruel joke: a hot tub that will kill you by falling if you choose to ignore its warning.

Lawless, the new season of Fortnite, has brought many relevant changes and innovations that we can all enjoy. It has also added a new map that, in addition to new areas and points of interest, includes a cruel little joke by Epic Games: a “killer hot tub” that eliminates its players by blowing them up if they decide to ignore its warning of a maximum of three people. For the second season in a row, the makers of the popular Battle Royale are playing this peculiar joke on unwary players, reminiscent of the “no dancing” sign that also had disastrous consequences for those who chose to ignore those very clear instructions.
Outlaw Oasis' “killer hot tub” in Fortnite, Epic Games' funniest and latest trolling of its players
Epic Games continues to demonstrate its sense of humor in Fortnite with small details that, far from ruining the game experience, serve to troll the most unwary players. In Lawless, the new season released last February 21, the community has discovered that one of the hot tubs in the Outlaw Oasis location hides a deadly surprise: if four people enter at the same time, they will all be blown into the air, which in most cases means their death by falling. What is the reason for this strange trap? There is a sign that warns about the “maximum capacity” of the hot tub: three people maximum. If we ignore the sign, we will see firsthand that the threat was very serious.
This isn’t the first time Fortnite has introduced traps like this on its map. Last season, Epic Games played a similar trick by placing a “no dancing” sign on the edge of a ravine. Players who decided to defy this seemingly harmless warning and perform any kind of dance were thrown into the void without warning, creating endless hilarious moments shared on social media. History is repeating itself with the Outlaw Oasis hot tub, and there are already numerous clips of unsuspecting players falling into the trap while their teammates watch and laugh at Epic’s “masterstroke.”
These types of winks have become a hallmark of the game, taking advantage of Epic Games' enormous creative freedom to surprise players with unexpected mechanics. Although in other titles these types of “cheats” might be considered unfair, in Fortnite they fit perfectly with the game’s lighthearted tone and chaotic, uncontrolled spirit. After all, it’s part of the game’s DNA to add elements that reward curiosity, but also punish those who don’t pay attention to detail.
Rather than being a real gameplay issue, the hot tub trap is simply a cruel but harmless prank that only affects a very specific and small area of the map. Unlike other changes that have caused controversy in the community, this detail does not upset the balance of the game or give any player an unfair advantage; it simply adds a touch of humor to the games.
