Epic Games has listened to Fortnite players and addressed the issue of low XP gain in gameplay experiences such as LEGO Fortnite, Creative, and Save the World.

The long-awaited Fortnite Chapter 6 started last Sunday, December 1, 2024, with the arrival of its Season 1, which brought a lot of new features. However, many players were met with an unpleasant surprise: certain game modes, such as LEGO Fortnite, offered very little experience compared to before the arrival of the new season, which led to a veritable maelstrom of complaints towards Epic Games. A few days later, the company has heard the pleas of fans and has corrected this error, restoring the values of XP earned in several modes.

Epic Games fixes Fortnite experience system, listens to player complaints

After the debut of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 last December 1st, many players noticed that certain game modes, such as LEGO Fortnite or Save the World, gave a significantly lower amount of experience than usual. Epic Games itself noticed this unforeseen problem and promised a solution, which was implemented via hotfix on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The game’s official accounts in various languages detail the nature of the problem and what the fixes consisted of:

In general, what happened and what has been fixed is as follows:

  • The XP earned for completing additional objectives when performing bonus objectives has been increased from 15,000 XP to 25,000 XP.
  • XP earned for completing LEGO Fortnite Quests has been increased from 700 XP to 25,000 XP per Quest.
  • The weekly XP limit for experiences such as Save the World, LEGO Fortnite Reload, and Creative has been increased.

Since the beginning of the season, the usual experience gain values in the affected modes were unusually low, leading to a barrage of criticism against Epic Games. Fortunately, the error has been fixed without too much delay. As we said, there is no need to download an update or patch for our version of the game to reflect the new XP gain values; just connect and play.

Many players were rightly concerned about this unforeseen change, as unlocking the current Battle Pass content without paying requires leveling up 200 levels in 82 days, as the season ends on February 21, 2025. This drastic reduction in experience earned by completing in-game tasks would have greatly increased the hours of play required to reach the level required to unlock all of this season’s items.

Another big reason why many mistakenly thought it was an intentional change is the fact that since December 2024, the various mode passes such as LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival have integrated their progression with the Fortnite core mode experience, effectively reducing the play time needed to unlock everything. Ultimately, we insist, the bug has been fixed and everything is now working as it should, with a reasonable ratio of playtime to unlocking new items.
