Fortnite OG returns to Chapter 1 thanks to this new mode: all the new features, new outfits, new Battle Pass...
Fortnite OG arrives in style, and it has done so to stay. So is this new permanent game mode that comes loaded with nostalgia and novelties.
Fortnite returns to its first day of existence thanks to the arrival of OG, the new game mode that takes us back to Season 1 of Chapter 1 of the game with all its peculiarities: the classic map, classic weapons, a new Battle Pass and many more surprises to discover.
When Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 1 starts, when it ends, and how to play.
As announced last year, Fortnite: OG is back in 2024. Fortnite OG Season 1 runs from December 6, 2024 at 9:00 am ET until January 31, 2025 at 2:00 am ET.
To play Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 1, simply search for this game mode in the Play Fortnite tab and select the variant we want to access, either Battle Royale or Zero Build.
Epic’s intention with Fortnite OG is to cover the first few seasons of Chapter 1 and recreate those early days of the game, which were somewhat chaotic due to the novelty, but very fun for those for whom this title was their first experience within the battle royale genre. When Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 1 ends, the game is expected to continue with Season 2, and so on.
This is Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 1: the long-awaited return to its first stage.
In a blog post on Fortnite’s official website, Epic Games laid out the not-insignificant virtues of Fortnite OG, which brings the game back to its Chapter 1 Season 1, which debuted in September 2017. It’s not that the current season of Fortnite has been replaced, as happened with Fortnite: OG in 2023, but rather that this is a new gameplay experience available alongside Chapter 6 Season 1.
That said, it should be clarified that although the focus is on the nostalgia factor for the return of the classic map and many of the weapons and items used then, the gameplay will not be 100% identical to these first months of Fortnite. Instead, there will be some changes and improvements introduced a posteriori, such as the presence of the Reboot Vans to revive teammates and advanced movement mechanics such as sprinting, the ability to climb, push doors or heal while moving.
The maximum number of materials is 999, and strategies that were controversial at the time can be used again, such as “double pumping,” which consisted of shooting with one Pump Shotgun and then switching to another in your inventory to immediately fire a second shot. This strategy came to dominate the metagame, and Epic Games was forced to implement a short refresh time between using different Pump Shotguns to prevent abuse of the tactic.
Another big change is that this mode can be played in the Zero Build variant. Since this would make it very difficult to move through certain areas, such as those where the terrain is steeper, in this variant there are zip lines and elevators to help players move around the stage. In short, Fortnite OG combines the classic with the new quite nicely, refining certain outdated mechanics and systems.
Here’s the new Origins Battle Pass in Fortnite OG
Another big news in Fortnite OG is the introduction of a new OG Pass that will allow us to get up to 45 exclusive rewards in the form of new outfits, picks, backpacks, and dances. We can buy it separately at a price of $8.99, but it is also part of the monthly Fortnite Crew subscription, which costs $11.99.
New outfit remixes reminiscent of the original ones from Chapter 1 are the main protagonists of this pass: Renegade Rebel, Aerial Assault Bomber, and Skull Commander.
In addition, starting in December 2024, all Fortnite Passes will be interconnected, meaning that the experience you gain in Fortnite, Fortnite OG, Creative, Save the World, Fortnite Festival, LEGO Fortnite, or Rocket Racing will help you progress in all the Passes you’ve earned. This means that you don’t even need to play Fortnite OG to unlock the rewards from that particular Pass, which is very useful as it speeds up the process of unlocking these virtual items.
This is the map of Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 1: all areas
The map of Fortnite OG during its debut is that of Chapter 1 Season 1 of the game, a time when there were no designated chapters as such. It is, therefore, the Fortnite map as it originally was during its debut in September 2017. In other words, the nostalgia of this return to the early stages of the game is one of the main attractions of Fortnite OG.
These are all the areas available on the map:
All the weapons and items in Fortnite OG
Below we leave you with a list of all the weapons and items in Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 1:
This selection will not remain static. Epic Games has already announced that new weapons and items will be added as the weeks go by, and that they will be returned from the chamber so that the experience will continue to feel both vintage and fresh. If the arsenal is not refreshed on a regular basis, the experience would stagnate and players would quickly lose interest.
