Fortnite servers not responding: What we know about the downtime and when servers will be back up
Why can’t I log in to Fortnite? The answer is very simple: the servers are undergoing maintenance while Epic Games adds the content for the new season.

If you’re trying to play Fortnite on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, you’ll most likely encounter a message on the screen: “Servers are not responding.” But don’t worry, there’s no problem with your PC, mobile or console or with your game account; the reason you can’t access the video game is simpler. This day sees the release of Lawless, the new season of the popular battle royale. As part of the implementation of the changes and new features of Season 2 of Fortnite Chapter 6, Epic Games has temporarily disabled the servers, so at the user level there’s only one thing left to do: wait.
Fortnite: When will the servers be up again and what to do in the meantime?
When the servers come back up, it’ll be time to play Lawless, we’re going to have to wait a little though for the servers to be ready. Fortnite went offline at 2 a.m. ET, and season updates usually take approximately 4-7 hours. If everything is on schedule, players will be able to log in and play away before 9 a.m. ET.
If we try to log in from this time on this particular day, we will likely fail to do so, as Fortnite will not progress past the title screen, where it will display the message “Servers are not responding.” This is because, as we said, the servers are temporarily in maintenance mode while Epic Games makes sure the arrival of the new season is properly implemented.
From our own home, the only thing we can do is wait several hours after downloading patch 34.00. After this time, Epic Games will have already reactivated the servers. Normally the wait is about four or five hours, although in the worst case, Fortnite could be offline for practically an entire day, as already happened during a previous season start. To receive real-time updates on the status of the servers, we can visit the X @FortniteStatus profile or the official Fortnite service status website.
In short, if today, Feb. 21, 2025, you cannot play Fortnite because the servers are not responding, there is nothing to worry about. Epic Games has temporarily disabled access to implement all the new features of Season 2 of Chapter 6. The only thing you can do is download patch 34.00 and wait for the servers to come back online, which usually happens within a few hours.
