Fortnite’s new season will take us to ancient Greece: Here’s everything we know
We’re rounding up all the clues about Fortnite’s upcoming season, which seems to have ancient Greece and its mythology as its main theme.
Fortnite content update 28.30, released on February 22, 2024, brought with it numerous files and items that hint at the game’s new season. Among other things, it was revealed that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 will have an ancient Greek theme. Below, we leave you with all this information organized point by point:
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 will take us to ancient Greece
As we commented above, patch 28.30 on February 22, 2024, added new files to Fortnite’s file system that give us very clear clues about the direction the game will take for the next season. Apparently, the theme of the new season of the game will be focused on ancient Greece. Let’s go by parts.
First, a new set of quests has been added, which consists of creating a mosaic that forms a three-headed dog. This is a representation of Cerberus, which in Greek mythology was the dog of Hades, the god of the underworld. Cerberus guarded the gates of Hades so that the living could not pass through and the dead could not escape.
We will gradually build this mosaic by getting pieces of it all over the map.
Apparently, a “Cerberus” outfit will also arrive in the Battle Pass of the new Fortnite season, as we saw in one of the last surveys sent to some content creators. Below is an image of what this outfit looks like:
On the other hand, patch 28.30 has also added a new NPC named Odyssey, a Greek warrior who looks like this:
Odyssey is an NPC who has quite interesting dialogues that give us clues about the new season of Fortnite:
- Default String: “Someone on this island has been chasing powers they don’t understand.”
- First conversation: “I can feel an ancient power growing on this Island…”
- To Hope: “Hope! The whispers were true…”
- To Vengeance Jones: “You have wandered from your true path… but destiny is not yet done with you.”
- To Montague: “Even diamond will shatter when its weaknesses are exploited.
- To Valeria: “I will not give you the answers you seek. Walk the path you have sought, and bear its consequences.”
- “The Mosaic is the key to what is coming. It bears a warning.”
- “Mundane powers like The Society always believe their influence is eternal, even just before they fall.”
- “I am Odyssey. I am merely a traveler, following the path of ancient insight.”
- “No destiny is certain… but yours hums with potential.”
- “These ‘Medallions’ are shards of mysterious power, dug out from long-gone history.”
From all of these text strings, we can deduce the following:
- Odyssey appears on the island as a teaser for Chapter 5, Season 2.
- The mosaic itself is also a teaser for the new season.
- The Society medallions from this season’s bosses are fragments of power from a long-forgotten civilization that existed on the Island.
- Valeria, the leader of The Society, has been searching for this “ancient power.”
All of this is in addition to old clues that have been available via data mining from previous patches, such as that the new season will feature a boss that appears via lightning (it could be Zeus himself or his equivalent in the Fortnite world), that the current season’s map has a lot of Mediterranean architecture - including some Greek-looking areas and buildings - or that many of the outfits in the latest survey seem to be representations of many deities of the Greek pantheon, such as Ares, Persephone, Hades, or Zeus.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 begins on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2:00 AM ET. This is also the end date for the current Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1. We leave you with a list of times across the United States:
