Free upgrades: “The First Descendant” anniversary event gives you all of this without paying anything
Nexon’s looter shooter celebrates its first birthday with a generous event packed with free rewards, and yes, that includes a full character and top-tier gear.
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to jump back into The First Descendant, this is it. Nexon is celebrating the game’s first anniversary with a massive in-game event that hands out free characters, ultimate weapons, and a pile of cosmetic and currency rewards—no microtransactions required.
The event kicked off on July 3 and runs through August 13, giving players plenty of time to rack up Anniversary Tokens by completing daily missions. These tokens can be exchanged at Anais in the Albion hub for a wide range of goodies, including:
What you can get for free
- One free character of your choice (excluding the newest seasonal additions like Serena, Keelan, Hailey, and Ines)
- Up to three Ultimate Weapons, some of the strongest gear in the game
- 10 million gold or 1 million Kuiper Shards
- Cosmetics, emotes, Photo Mode items, and more
Each character costs 300 tokens, while each Ultimate Weapon costs 200 tokens. And the best part? You can earn hundreds of tokens just by completing standard daily activities like intercept battles, infiltration ops, and regional missions. Finish five dailies and you’ll get 100 tokens. Hit ten, and you’ll earn another 200.
Bonus: Season 3 and NieR: Automata crossover
This event also leads into The First Descendant’s upcoming Season 3, which includes a crossover with NieR: Automata, new story content, and more endgame systems. Nexon has also dropped support for last-gen consoles to focus on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising better performance and visual fidelity moving forward.
