Episode 10 of Season 3 of ‘From’ Reveals the Cursed City’s True Nature

After practically three seasons of cliffhangers, the writers of From have decided to go turbo in episode 10 of season 3 of the series. Titled “Revelations: Chapter Two″, this chapter lives up to its name by explaining the true origin of the cursed town in a nutshell: the nightmarish creatures that appear every night were the original inhabitants of the place, who sacrificed their children in exchange for immortality by making a pact with an evil being.

Fatima is the one who explains this concept to Ellis and Boyd, assuring them that she has seen who the night people really are: “They sacrificed their children because It promised them that they would live forever." This perverse form of “immortality” occurs through rebirth: the being that Fatima carried in her womb turned out to be Smiley, one of the creatures that has caused the most trouble to the trapped inhabitants of the place.

The new inhabitants who arrive and are trapped in the town are also subject to this cycle of eternal recurrence and resurrection through reincarnation. During the course of the episode, it is also revealed that Jade and Tabitha are the reincarnations of Christopher and Miranda, who eventually perished at the hands of the creatures. “Anghkooey” means “remember,” and this is what the misguided souls of the murdered children were trying to convey to these key characters.

Both Jade and Tabitha are “doomed” to reincarnate until the end of time, until they succeed in freeing the children’s souls and breaking the curse of the village. This special status explains why they are among the few people who can see the children, as well as their special “affinity” with the people, which has allowed them to have visions of events from their past lives.

The sinister children of ‘From’: the key to the enigma

By now, it is clear that the poor children murdered by their ancestors are at the center of it all. The mysterious symbol that Jade scribbled over and over, completely obsessed, were the roots of a huge tree that they saw through a hole in the ceiling as they lay down and positioned themselves for sacrifice. This tree became the “Bottle Tree”, whose hole allows its “passengers” to teleport to any place - not always safe - and is one of the main elements that breaks the “village rules”. The tree came about because the children pinned their hopes on it to reveal the truth of what had happened there: that their parents had murdered them in exchange for immortality.

Understanding that the children “created” the tree allows Jade, Jim, and Tabitha to deduce that the numbers inside the bottles were actually musical notes. Playing this melody near the “bottle tree” brings the Anghkooey children out of the forest, revealing that they are actually benevolent spirits who simply long for eternal peace, but need help to find it.

Julie can travel through time and will try to change the events of “From”

Although hinted at in the previous episode, Julie is one of the few people in the series with the ability to travel back in time to earlier moments in history. Unfortunately, Ethan tells her that this time travel can only be used to visit past chapters, not to change the course of events.

Nevertheless, near the end of episode 10 of season 3, a desperate and injured Julie from the future arrives at her father Jim’s side. She wants to warn him that the man in the yellow suit will appear at any moment. Unfortunately, she arrives too late...

Who is the Man in the Yellow Suit who appears at the end of episode 10 of season 3 of ‘From’?

Considering all the revelations already listed, the Man in the Yellow Suit who appears near the end of the episode appears to be the supernatural entity of malevolent character who has been behind the strings of the sinister cursed town, and who offered “immortality” to its original inhabitants. The fact that he can go outside in the daytime when one of the unwritten rules of the creatures is that they only appear when it is nighttime makes it clear that his power transcends that of the rest of the night dwellers of the place. This disturbing figure manages to physically overpower Jim and kill him without much effort.

This character was also the one who radioed Jim at the end of episode 10 of the first series, entitled “Oh, the Places We’ll Go”, warning him that Tabitha should stop trying to delve into the town’s secrets. Because of this remote communication, it has also been speculated that it was “Thomas”, Jim and Tabitha’s late son, who spoke on the phone to continue toying with the family’s weakened psyche.

According to the episode’s credits, this character is simply called “The Man in the Yellow Suit”, and we understand that the mystery will continue until the premiere of the new chapters. The actor who plays him is Douglas E. Hughes, who we have seen recently in other series such as ‘The Umbrella Academy’ on Netflix or ‘Cross’ on Prime Video.
