Fumito Ueda is back with Project Robot, a new sci-fi game by the developer of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus

At last!! Fumito Ueda’s new game is official! Temporarily named Project Robot for lack of an official title, it appears to be a science fiction adventure set in a strange world of mechs and aliens. With a rather short enigmatic trailer and no release date, the title has captured the attention of all fans of ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, the works that define the legendary Japanese developer.

A long awaited new game by Fumito Ueda

Last year, Ueda announced their plans to reveal their new project at the end of 2023. However, it seems like those plans had to wait until today. ”It’s finally a year where we can deliver a lot of topics to everyone! We are doing our best, so please look forward to it,” said the creative at the time. This would officially be genDESIGN’s first game ever, with the team being composed by Ueda himself and other Team ICO veterans, which was Sony’s studio responsible for the development of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, largely lauded as one of the best video games in history and which received a fantastic remake in 2018 by Bluepoint Games.
