‘Furiosa’: Chris Hemsworth shows off his transformation into the evil Dementus

Chris Hemsworth has shared a new image on his Instagram account in which we can see him as Dementus, the villain of ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, the next film in the ‘Mad Max’ franchise by George Miller. The actor, known mainly for his role as Thor in different feature films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, surprises with his radical appearance as the post-apocalyptic warlord.

A detailed look at Chris Hemsworth as Dementus in ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’

Hemsworth shared the photograph on his Instagram account in which, dressed up as Dementus —the villain of ‘Furiosa’—, he wears round glasses, a huge white cape, and a prosthetic nose. All this while on top of a huge motorcycle customized in the purest post-apocalyptic style.

The little we know about Hemsworth’s antagonistic role is precisely what can be deduced from the synopsis of ‘Furiosa’. Chris Hemsworth plays Warlord Dementus, the leader of a biker gang in a world devastated by nuclear war. A young Furiosa —who is given life this time around by Anya Taylor-Joy— will confront him as she tries to return to the Green Place of Many Mothers. In addition, Dementus will fight another warlord for control of The Citadel, and Furiosa finds herself mixed up in this struggle between tyrants.

For obvious reasons, the name “Dementus” does not bode well, and Chris Hemsworth’s character promises to be one of the main attractions of this film. Dementus will join the cast of charismatic villains of the saga such as Nail Clipper, Lord Humungus, and Immortan Joe.

‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ is a prequel to ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ (2015). ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ was technically a reboot. of the franchise, although its creator and director George Miller simply considers it “a comeback”. This film starred Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky and Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa. In ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, it is Anya Taylor-Joy who plays the anti-heroine in a world devastated by nuclear war. Mel Gibson played Max Rockatansky, the protagonist of the saga, in the first three installments.

‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ premieres May 23, 2024 in Australia and on the 24th of that same month in the United States.
