Xbox Games Showcase
Gears of War is finally back, and is a prequel that bring back Marcus and Dom together
Get your lancers ready and watch out for the damn tomatoes, because here we go again.
There is no more glorious sound in Xbox gaming than the sound of a Lancer starting up. And finally, after a long wait, after a 4-year drought of original Gears content, the Xbox franchise is ready to give one of the company’s most important franchises the welcome it deserves.
The Xbox Games Showcase was finally the place where the wait was over and The Coalition presented the first look at Gears of War E-Day. The game is a prequel, with a young Marcus and Dom back to action. The trailer is short, but it feels amazing to watch this duo back again.
Just in time for the Gears of War movie and series
We fans of Locust and Lancer have been starving since Gears 5 (coming in 2019) and Gears Tactics (2020), but the wait has been worth it and it’s time to get our boots on. In addition to Gears of War E-Day, let’s remember there is still things to come related to the franchise, as the company to catch up before the Gears of War movie produced by Netflix and an animated series for adults.
Because yes, folks. Terms like “D-Day,” “imulsion,” and “emergency hole” will soon become part of the collective imagination. Netflix is looking to emulate its rivals’ success with video game adaptations (see ‘The Last of Us’ on Max and ‘Fallout’ on Prime Video as prime examples), and the entertainment giant will be pulling out all the stops with a Gears of War live-action movie and an animated series for adults.
Although details are unknown, the drought is over. It seems that between games and adaptations, the saga will return to the times when its presence in Xbox events was always taken for granted, and we are glad about it. Long live the Coalition and Delta Squadron.
