‘Geek Girl’: A must-see series on Netflix with ‘House of the Dragon’ talent

‘Geek Girl’ is a series based on the books by Holly Smale that you should not miss on Netflix, as it has been one of the most-watched series worldwide in recent weeks.

What is the first season of ‘Geek Girl’ about?

The series is based on Smale’s first book and shows us the life of Harriet Manners, played by Emily Carey, a 21-year-old actress who also appeared in five episodes of Max’s ‘House of the Dragon’ as young Alicent Hightower.

This teenage “geek” (a term given to people who have a great passion and knowledge in certain areas, usually related to technology, video games, and knowledge of science in general) is somewhat awkward and is unexpectedly discovered by a headhunter from one of the major modeling agencies in London. This completely changes her life, taking her to the other extreme of what she had been living, as she suffers constant harassment from her classmates.

The universality of the issues that the series deals with is very well told in 10 episodes of less than 40 minutes, where we will see how Manners’ personality evolves, both with her close circle of friends and with her own family.

This series is suitable for teens and adults because of its dramatic comedic tone. Its narrative will capture you from the first moment, and at the time of writing this note, the series is number 8 in the top 10 of Netflix.
