Gemini gets personal: Google’s AI now connects with your apps
Google’s new smart assistant uses your photos and emails to offer personalized, useful solutions for everyday life.

Artificial intelligence has gone from being a general reference tool to becoming an assistant that truly understands our context. Google has taken a decisive step forward with the beta launch of Personal Intelligence for Gemini. This update allows the chatbot to connect directly with applications such as Gmail and Google Photos, enabling Artificial Intelligence to learn from your habits, preferences, and specific needs to solve everyday problems in seconds.

How does Gemini make our daily tasks easier?
The great advantage of this integration is AI’s ability to reason about information we already have stored. Imagine you’re in a store and can’t remember the size of your car tires or your license plate number. Instead of searching through thousands of emails or photos, you can ask Gemini directly.
The system can review your Gmail history to confirm the exact model of your vehicle or analyze an image in Google Photos to extract the information you need. It doesn’t just give you a generic answer; it can suggest products based on your past trips or even plan your next vacation, avoiding places you’ve already visited or that don’t suit your family’s tastes.
What about the privacy of my data?
One of the most important points of this announcement is the control we will have. Google has been emphatic that privacy is central to this feature:
- Voluntary activation: The connection to your applications is disabled by default; you decide when and which apps to connect.
- No direct training: Gemini does not use the content of your emails or private photos to “train” artificial intelligence on a massive scale. It only consults the information to respond to your specific request.
- Full transparency: The assistant will always try to cite the source of the information, allowing you to verify that the data is correct.
- Control of sensitive topics: The AI avoids making assumptions about health issues unless the user explicitly requests it.

Who can try this new feature and how can it be activated?
This beta phase is currently available in the United States for subscribers to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra plans. It can be used on the web, as well as on Android and iOS devices. Although it is currently limited to personal accounts (excluding business or educational accounts for the time being), Google plans to expand it soon to more countries and to users of the free version.

For those who already have access, the process is very simple: just go to the Settings menu within Gemini, select the Personal Intelligence option, and choose the Connected Apps you want to enable. It’s a practical way to turn a conventional chat into a personal organizer that really knows who you are and what you need.
