George R.R. Martin hasn’t finished “The Winds of Winter” yet, but he already knows what he’s writing next
The ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ author has taken to the internet once again to update fans with his current and future plans, as well as some info on the Game of Thrones spin-offs.
The author behind the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series continues working on the writing process of ‘The Winds of Winter’, the sixth installment of his fantasy saga. George R.R. Martin has ignored the pressure and instead, he has chosen to take all the time he needs to do so, all while collaborating with HBO in the creation of the new spin-off of ‘Game of Thrones’. Leaving aside the impatience of some followers, the writer continues with his work and has revealed what he wants to work on after publishing his long-awaited novel. Taking advantage of the adaptation of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, the author has made it clear that he wants to write more stories starring the characters of these stories.
“The show will make its debut next year… and if it does well, THE SWORN SWORD and THE MYSTERY KNIGHT will follow,” revealed Martin in his not-a-blog. “By which time I hope to have finished some more Dunk & Egg stories (yes, after I finish THE WINDS OF WINTER)”. Alongside these small snippet of news, the author also shared a video in which the very young Dextel Sol Ansell, the actor who will play Egg, is seen shaving his head before the start of filming.
“Most of the auditions — not all, but most — are done, and we should be able to announce some more cast members shortly. We have our Tanselle, Steely Pate, Baelor Breakspear, the Laughing Storm, a couple of Fossoways, Aerion Brightflame (boo, hiss), Prince Maekar, and the rest.”
‘The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ will have more seasons if the first one is successful
According to Martin, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be shorter than ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘House of the Dragon’ and will have a “much different” tone, although he has clarified that it is still Westeros, so “no one is truly safe.” The series will premiere next year and if it goes well it will receive more adaptations. This series will adapt only ‘The Hedge Knight’, so if it works there will be adaptations of ‘The Sworn Sword’ and ‘The Mystery Knight’.
The second season of ‘House of the Dragon’ premieres on Max next June 17.
