Get your wallet ready: the next Nintendo and LEGO set will be based on the original Donkey Kong arcade game
The rumored $200 set could become one of LEGO and Nintendo’s biggest collector releases of the year.
LEGO sets inspired by video games are here to stay, and although I don’t really know many people who own one—because as far as I know, they sell out very quickly—they’re definitely popular. This duo is here to brighten the days of kids and adults alike, with sets ranging from very specific themes like The Legend of Zelda or characters from the Super Mario Bros. series, as well as an NES and a Game Boy that look incredible.
Now, according to various reports and leaks, it looks like we’ll have a new addition to our collection: none other than the original Donkey Kong arcade game, and it’s coming sooner than you might think.
According to the main source for this article—the official LegoLeak Reddit—this new set will be released in August, with a potential price of $200, which could indicate two things: the size of this set and that it will surely be one of the most sought-after sets by LEGO collectors—and not just those who are fans of Nintendo franchises.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed, this forum has a track record of providing reliable information in the past, so it’s likely that this will turn out to be true; furthermore, the franchise’s 45th anniversary was on July 9, so it would make sense for this set to be released to coincide with such an important date.

Now, the big question is: How exactly will this replica of the original arcade machine work? It’s not like they haven’t made sets with moving parts before (in fact, the Super Mario World set is one of my favorites), but for now, all we can do is let our imaginations run wild and plan the space where we’ll put this LEGO replica… if we can actually get our hands on it (or if we can afford it).
