‘Gladiator 2′ moves up its release date and promises the “greatest action sequences ever put on film”

Ridley Scott promises that Gladiator 2 will be worth the wait and that the story of Lucius Verus will live up to that of Maximus Meridius.

Ridley Scott can’t wait. He is so eager to show ‘Gladiator 2′ to the world that he even moved up the movie’s release date by a week. Scheduled for November 22, the movie will finally see the light of day on November 15, 2024. And not content with that, the director has made a threat and promised two things.

First, that it will be “worth the wait” (a wait of nearly 25 years since the first Gladiator was released in 2000). Second, that the movie will have the “greatest action sequences ever put on film.” Ridley Scott, at the age of 86 and still coming from the failure of ‘Napoleon’, is convinced of what he is doing and this new installment will soon be living cinema history.

What is Gladiator 2′ about?

Set 20 years after the death of Maximus Meridius (father of a murdered son and husband of a murdered wife, who got his revenge in this life and not the next), Gladiator 2′ will take place during the convulsive reign of the Severi in Rome. A family of North African origin with blood on their hands that put an end to the Antonine dynasty (a situation that goes from bad to worse). The protagonist will be Lucius Vero, a child who appeared in the original movie, now grown up and played here by Paul Mescal.

Despite his aristocratic status (grandson of Mark Antony and nephew of Commodus), his passion for the Colosseum has become more than a hobby. Lucius himself fights in the arena and engages in dangerous gladiatorial combat. Not surprisingly, the first images show him covered in blood and dust. What awaits such a man? What will he not be able to do on the political level?
