‘Gladiator 2′ shows first images with Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal in battle
Ridley Scott gives us the first glimpse of his next great work, returning to the Rome we knew nearly 24 years ago.
We’ve been told that it will be “worth the wait” will have “the greatest action sequences ever put on film” and now that the first images have been released, it’s time to give Gladiator II a thumbs up or thumbs down.
‘Gladiator 2′ is shown in its first images
Via Vanity Fair, we have the first block of images related to Ridley Scott’s upcoming movie that we’ve been waiting for 24 years. Mescal vs. Pascal, Denzel Washington and many other new and familiar faces can be seen in the magazine’s feature.
Set 20 years after the death of Maximus Meridius (father of a murdered son and husband of a murdered wife, who got his revenge in this life and not the next), Gladiator 2′ will take place during the convulsive reign of the Severi in Rome. A family of North African origin with blood on their hands that put an end to the Antonine dynasty (a situation that goes from bad to worse). The protagonist will be Lucius Vero, a child who appeared in the original movie, now grown up and played here by Paul Mescal.
For now, there is no need to wait too long, as the first trailer for ‘Gladiator 2’ already has a release date, and although it was expected for the middle of this month, it is now confirmed that it will arrive this July 9th. For now, the movie has moved up its release date by a week and will be hitting theaters on November 15.
